한 가난한 부부가 있었다.

There was a poor couple.

유난히도 서로를 사랑하는 부부는 크리스마스가 다가오자 고민에 빠진다.선물을 살 돈이 없기 때문이다.

The couple who loved each other so much, they started to worry when christmas approached.

because they didn't have money to buy a gift. 
남편은 시계를 팔아 부인에게 고급 머리빗을 선물한다.

Husband sell his watch and give his wife a high-quality comb.
한편 부인은 자신의 탐스러운 머리칼을 팔아 남편에게 시곗줄을 선물한다.

In the other hand, wife sell her beautiful hair and give her husband a watch chain.

이 이야기의 앞부분은  경쾌한 분위기에서 시작된다.상대방에게 뭔가 선물할수 있다는 즐거움 때문이다

The story starts in delighful mood becuase they feel very delighted that they can give a gift to one another

그러나 집안에서 부부가 만나는 순간, 분위기는 반전된다.

However, when they meet each other in the house, the mood quickly reverses

머리칼을 자른 부인에게는 머리빗이 소용없고, 시계를 팔아 버린 남편에게는 시계줄이 소용없기 때문이다.

For a wife who had a haircut didn't need a comb any more, and for a husband who had sold a watch didn't need a watch chain.

그러나 다시 부인은 곧 머리칼이 자랄 것이라고 남편을 위로하고, 남편 또한 조촐하나마 크리스마스 잔치나 벌이자고 말한다.

Wife cheer him up that her hair would grow soon  and husband also says to have a christmas party.
